Care Guide
- Trim the Wick: Before lighting the candle, trim a cotton wick to approximately 1/4 inch (0.6 cm). For wood wicks, trim the wick between an 1/8"-1/4". This helps prevent excessive smoking and ensures a steady, even burn.
- First Burn is Important: Allow the candle to burn for at least 1-2 hours during the first use. This helps create a "memory ring" and prevents the candle from tunneling (burning straight down the middle, leaving wax on the sides).
- Keep the Wax Pool Clean: Allow the entire top surface of the candle to become a liquid wax pool before extinguishing. This prevents tunneling and ensures an even burn in subsequent uses.
- Burn in a Draft-Free Area: Place the candle in a draft-free area to prevent uneven burning and excessive smoking. Drafts can cause the flame to flicker and burn unevenly.
- Place on a Heat-Resistant Surface: Always place candles on a heat-resistant surface to protect the underlying surface and prevent accidents.
- Keep Away from Flammable Materials: Keep candles away from curtains, furniture, bedding, and other flammable materials. Ensure there is ample space around the candle.
- Never Leave Unattended: Never leave a burning candle unattended. Extinguish the flame before leaving the room or going to bed.
- Use Candle Holders: If using candle holders, ensure they are heat-resistant and can contain any melted wax. This adds an extra layer of safety.
- Extinguish Properly: Use a candle snuffer or gently blow out the flame to extinguish the candle. This helps prevent hot wax from splattering.
- Store Candles Safely: Store candles in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Avoid storing them in excessively hot or cold environments.
- Keep Out of Reach of Children and Pets: Ensure that burning candles are out of reach of children and pets. The hot wax and flame pose potential hazards.
- Check for Cracks or Damage: Before lighting a candle, check for any cracks or damage in the container or wax. Do not use a damaged candle.
